Renowned as “Die Katzenkünstlerin” (The Cat Artist), Rosina Wachtmeister’s signature pieces include her utterly unique half-moon faced multi-coloured cats. Rosina was born in Vienna, Austria, and raised near Lake Attersee. When she was 14, her parents decided to emigrate to Brazil. Later in life, she fell in love with an Italian artist, who took her to Italy. She found a new home in Capena, a medieval village north of Rome, where she still lives today. Her idiosyncratic style has been influenced by artists such as Friedensreich Hundertwasser (Austrian), Niki de Saint Phalle (French-American), Jean Tinguely (Swiss), Imre Makovecz (Hungarian), Tomi Ungerer (French) and Afro Basaldella (Italian).
